A term used in the context of AssetWise to depict a parent/component relationship of either physical or virtual items, i.e. the physical breakdown of a object for physical items, or the functional breakdown of a object for virtual items.

AssetWise only allows items of a specific kind, such ase either physical items or virtual items, to be related in Horizontal Relationships. Relationships between virtual items and physical items are created through Vertical Relationships.
